Art has always been an important part of the human experience. It merges with politics in its role in shaping the core ideas of society. To better understand how art can criticise, enlighten and transform our shared reality, the PolArt project, funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programme, will develop a new theoretical model by revisiting classical German philosophy in an interpretive light. In doing so, it will transgress the current predominance of 20th century thinking to understand more about how we originally derived our modern views of art and politics. This will serve as a reflective foundation from which to regard many of the issues faced today. The new perspective is expected to validate art as a building block of politics and citizenship.
